Virginia Sales Tax Holiday | August 5-7, 2011
Charlottesville Moms and Dads get ready to SAVE this weekend! The 2011 Virginia Sales Tax Holiday will take place this weekend, August 5-7. During this 3-day period, parents purchasing qualifying school supplies, clothing and footwear will be exempt from Virginia state sales tax. Eligible school supply items must be priced at $20 or less and eligible clothing and footwear must be priced at $100 or less.
The Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is available to everyone. But, it’s a great opportunity for Charlottesville parents to take care of those back-to-school needs. Although a 5 percent discount isn’t huge, every bit saved helps in this economy. The first day of school for Charlottesville City Schools and Albemarle County Public Schools is Wednesday, August 24, 2011. 2011-2012 school supply lists are available online and in local stores. Go out and stimulate our local economy this weekend and enjoy a rare moment of freedom from taxation!
